David Matyas became interested in the art of Flamenco guitar when he saw a performance by maestro Paco de Lucia in Calgary several years ago. He has studied with Calgary-based flamenco guitarist Peter Knight, and has travelled to Spain to continue his studies mostrecently in 2008.
David performs frequently in Calgary with Salero Calo, and with Rosanna Terracciano. He has accompanied dance classes at the School of Alberta Ballet for Claudia Carolina, one of Canada's leading Flamenco dance teachers.
This summer David pursued extensive studies in Montreal with Myriam Allard's flamenco school La Otra Orilla, and the school's principal guitarist, Kraig Adams.
